FAQ

Q. Can I still sign up?

A. If spots are still available, of course! Go to www.bikereg.com/solsticegravel If all spots are filled up, feel free to sign up on a wait list.

Q. Are your routes published somewhere that I can preview them?

A. We change our routes every year and take a while to plan them based on the current road conditions. We want to get the raddest roads to ride on, so please be patient. This is not a cookie cutter course. We usually release the routes and maps the week before the event. We use Ride with GPS so many gps formats are available for your devices

Q. Will there be food and drinks served after the event?

A. Everyone who signs up for the Solstice will get an armband for a delicious post-ride meal served by Colleen’s Catering. All finishers will also receive a token for a beverage of their choice at Stone Hollow Brewing.

Q. Will there be plenty of water and nutrition out on the course?

A. We always have at least 2 fully stocked checkpoints/SAGs on the Hundy course, and 1 fully stocked checkpoint/SAG on the Fiddy and Kindler routes. In addition to those, we will have another water-only SAG on the Fiddy and Kindler routes, and 2 more on the Hundy route. Additionally, you ride through a few small communities that have grocery stores, public parks with restrooms, and bars and taverns. All the routes can also take advantage of the Chief Standing Bear Trailheads if they pass by them.

Q. Can I get outside help during the race?

A. Heck no! This is a self-supported ride, and you should be prepared to take care of yourself. That being said, if you have a catastrophic failure and need to be picked up, please have your own backup plan ready. We will have volunteer course sweepers out there making sure everyone finishes, but please don’t count on them for a ride. They may be able to help you if you ask nicely. And they may even have a few refreshments for you. Please be nice to them, and tell them thank you.

Q. Can I be a jerk?

A. Hell no! Treat everyone as you would want to be treated yourself. We are a gravel family. That means look out for one another out on course. If you see someone in trouble, stop to give them a hand. When going up hills, stay to the right so that oncoming vehicles don’t hit you. Make sure to have a bright red blinking taillight so that drivers notice you when they approach from behind. AND PLEASE DO NOT LITTER! Every year we tend to see food wrappers and gel packets lying in the middle of the road. We hope this is an accident, and it fell out of someone’s pocket and was not deliberately thrown down. Please be courteous.
